Miniature Bull Terriers were originally bred in 19th century England. They were bred from the Bulldog and the White English Terrier (now extinct).
MBTs are full of energy and very playful dogs, they are also extremely strong-willed, so will require early & firm obedience training. They require lots of exercise and if left alone they may develop behavior problems such as digging and chewing. They are not recommended for first time dog owner or those who have no previous experience with Bull Terriers and they are far too active for younger children and they do not react well to teasing and roughhousing. Male & female dogs can live together, as well as two females but two males will probably be troublesome.
Mature MBTs should be between 10 to 14 inches in height and weigh between 25 to 35 pounds. They are sturdily built with a square body and an odd-shaped head. Their heads are flat and slope down to their noses, eyes are dark and small and set very close. Their coats are short, & glossy. They come in all colors, the most common being white & brindle.
Common health issues with the MBT are:
Primary Lens Luxation
Kidney Disease
Heart Disease
Deafness (most common in the whites)
Luxating Patella
Lethal Acrodermatitis
